US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday, marking a significant step in reinforcing India-US relations. During the meeting, Gor presented Modi with a framed photograph featuring the Prime Minister and US President Donald Trump, personally signed by Trump with the message: “Mr. Prime Minister, you are great.”
Gor described the meeting as “incredible” and expressed optimism about the future of bilateral ties. He highlighted that President Trump considers PM Modi a “great and personal friend,” underscoring the strong foundation of the India-US partnership.
The discussions covered a range of topics, including defense, trade, technology, and the strategic importance of critical minerals. Gor emphasized the shared values and mutual interests between the two nations, stating, “The US values its relationship with India, and under the strong leadership of President Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Modi, I am optimistic about the days ahead for both of our nations.”
Prior to meeting PM Modi, Gor engaged with Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, to further discuss and strengthen the bilateral relationship.
This meeting comes at a time when the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership is poised for further growth, with both nations committed to enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
