The Stanford-Elsevier list evaluates researchers based on comprehensive metrics such as citations, h-index, co-authorship, and a composite indicator known as the c-score, which reflects both career-long and recent research performance. This annual update categorizes scientists into 22 main scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, highlighting those whose work has had a substantial impact on their respective disciplines.
