Danville Park in Mississauga came alive as the World T10 Women’s Series kicked off with thrilling action and standout performances. The first day saw the Mississauga Premiers win both their matches to stay unbeaten, while the Waterloo Warriors followed closely with two victories out of three. The Toronto Royals, despite losing all three matches, won admiration for their fighting spirit.
The event also featured a High-Performance Fielding Camp, designed to sharpen players’ skills and agility. One of the highlights was a 77-run knock by Mitra Dinesh of the Waterloo Warriors, while Indomatie Goordial mounted a gritty fight for the Royals with 42 runs. On the bowling front, Guneet Bhatia and Terrisha Bess Lavia impressed with multiple wicket hauls, and young Avleen Rai stood out with two key wickets for the Premiers.
Community leaders joined the celebrations too. Councillor Natalie Hart honored series curator Atul Ahuja for his efforts in promoting women’s participation in cricket. The tournament—sponsored by SHOFUN and steered by Ahuja—blends fast-paced sport with talent development, giving female cricketers a stage to shine. Free food for the first 100 fans added to the festive atmosphere, making it a day of sport and community.
