Gandhian Society and Indian Consulate Mark 156th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in New Jersey

The Gandhian Society, in partnership with the Consulate General of India, hosted a grand celebration to honor the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 3, 2025, at Royal Albert’s Palace, Fords, New Jersey.

The event gathered more than 400 guests, including community leaders, dignitaries, and organization representatives, who came together to reflect on Gandhi’s enduring legacy of peace, truth, and non-violence.

Ms. Pragya Singh, Consul for Community and Cultural Affairs, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the continued importance of Gandhi’s philosophy in today’s divided and complex world. She encouraged everyone to embrace his timeless ideals of selfless service and compassion.

Mr. Mahesh Wani, Secretary of the Gandhian Society, presented the Annual Report, highlighting initiatives aimed at nurturing Gandhian values among the youth through educational competitions, cultural activities, and awareness programs. He also shared details of the Society’s humanitarian work benefiting underprivileged communities in India and the U.S.

Mr. Wani concluded by appealing for contributions to aid victims of the recent floods in India, calling for global unity and compassion in times of crisis.

The evening featured a cultural program celebrating the Mahatma’s life and message, including:

  • Bhajan Sandhya by noted singer Varsha Joshi.
  • Khadi Fashion Show by designer Sonal Gadhavi, promoting eco-friendly living.
  • Stage Play “Gandhi Zinda Hai” by Deepak Gupta and his team.
  • Music and dance performances by young local talents honoring Gandhi’s vision of harmony.

Mrs. Bhadra Butala, Founder of the Gandhian Society, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all guests and volunteers, urging continued dedication to Gandhiji’s mission of peace, kindness, and community service.
