India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, recently engaged in high-level discussions with U.S. Senators to bolster cooperation on counter-terrorism, trade, and regional security issues. Among his key meetings was a session with Senator Jacky Rosen, Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Near East, Central, South Asia, and Counterterrorism. During this meeting, Ambassador Kwatra expressed gratitude for Senator Rosen’s steadfast support in enhancing India–U.S. efforts to combat regional security challenges, including cross-border terrorism.
Kwatra also updated the senator on ongoing bilateral trade negotiations and the expanding hydrocarbons partnership between the two nations. Highlighting the importance of advances in artificial intelligence, they exchanged views on the societal applications and prospects for India–U.S. cooperation in this technological domain.
In another interaction, Ambassador Kwatra met with Stuart E. Jones, President of the Middle East Institute, to review recent geopolitical developments in the West Asia region.
Earlier in the week, Kwatra conducted talks with Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Their discussions focused on advancing a mutually beneficial trade framework, strengthening India’s energy security, and expanding oil and gas trade with the U.S. The ambassador also reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advocacy for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict through diplomatic dialogue.
Additionally, Kwatra recently hosted Senator Bill Hagerty and his spouse at the Indian Embassy residence, where they discussed enhancing cooperation on trade, energy, and Indo-Pacific security. The ambassador emphasized the deep value of Senator Hagerty’s strong support for India–U.S. relations.
These engagements underline India’s proactive diplomatic outreach to strengthen ties with U.S. lawmakers and address shared challenges in trade, security, and technology.
