Starting August 1, 2025, the U.S. Embassy in India has officially discontinued the third-party passport collection service for visa applicants. Now, applicants must either collect their passports in person or opt for a paid home delivery service—priced at ₹1,200.
What’s Changed and Why It Matters
- No more proxies: You cannot send someone else—like a representative or agent—to pick up your passport.
- Collection options:
- In person: You or a parent/legal guardian (for minors with proper ID and consent) must collect it yourself.
- Home delivery: Available at ₹1,200, as a convenient alternative.
- Required documents:
- Adults: Original government-issued photo ID (with address), plus a photocopy.
- Minors: Original consent letter signed by both parents (scanned/emailed copies not accepted), birth certificate or school ID, plus parents’ IDs and photocopies.
