Taipei — Beginning October 1, 2025, Taiwan will require most foreign visitors to submit a digital arrival form (TWAC) at least three days before their trip. This new regulation replaces traditional paper arrival cards and aims to streamline entry procedures.
Under the updated rules, all foreign tourists, business travelers, and short-term visitors must complete the form via Taiwan’s official immigration portal. The requirement excludes holders of Taiwan Resident Certificates, resident visas, or diplomatic passports.
The switch to digital processing is intended to ease congestion at immigration counters, reduce paperwork, and improve accuracy in traveler information. Applicants will receive a QR code upon submission, which must be presented before boarding or at immigration checkpoints.
Travelers who fail to file in advance may still do so upon arrival, but delays at the border are expected. Officials emphasize the form is free of charge and that the interface supports multiple languages to assist international travelers.
