New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, during which the two leaders discussed recent international developments, including Putin’s meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska.
Sharing details of the call on X, PM Modi expressed gratitude to President Putin for the conversation and reiterated India’s stance on the Ukraine conflict. “India has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine crisis and supports all efforts in this direction. I look forward to continued exchanges in the days ahead,” he said.

The discussion comes shortly after PM Modi spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day. During that conversation, the leaders reviewed bilateral relations and the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
On Saturday, PM Modi extended his wishes for peace and progress to the Ukrainian people and thanked Zelenskyy for the Independence Day greetings. “We value the shared commitment to strengthening ties between India and Ukraine and earnestly hope for a future of peace, progress, and prosperity for our friends in Ukraine,” Modi said.
This series of exchanges highlights India’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to maintain dialogue with both Russia and Ukraine while advocating for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
