KidZ has officially stepped into original storytelling with the launch of its first two homegrown animated series, marking a major milestone in India’s kids’ entertainment space. The platform announced the debut of Chote Tara ka Bada Gadar and FAB 5, two shows designed to blend Indian mythology, imagination, and contemporary storytelling for young audiences worldwide.

Chote Tara ka Bada Gadar is set to premiere on December 24 on KidZ, while FAB 5 will roll out shortly thereafter. The originals form part of a broader strategy by ZEE5 to build a vibrant, culturally rooted kids’ content universe—one that balances fun, safety, and meaningful storytelling.

Building a new Indian kids’ universe

With this expansion, KidZ aims to sit comfortably alongside established favourites such as Chhota Bheem, while also curating select international IPs. The objective, the company says, is to create a wholesome, premium environment where children can explore stories freely and parents can feel confident about what their kids are watching.

“KidZ is where safe meets fun,” the platform noted in its announcement. “It’s a space where children enjoy age-appropriate entertainment and parents get the reassurance of trusted, value-led content.”

‘Chote Tara ka Bada Gadar’: folklore meets fearless fun

Chote Tara ka Bada Gadar transports viewers to Himmatpur, a village where folklore, mythical creatures, and everyday life collide. At its heart is Chote Tara, a spirited ten-year-old whose courage and curiosity drive the story.

Set against a backdrop of ancient Indian legends, the series unfolds through explosive action, hidden secrets, and a mysterious underground world. The show’s creators say it is designed to spark imagination while subtly introducing cultural themes rooted in Indian storytelling traditions.

‘FAB 5’: magic, friendship, and responsibility

Meanwhile, FAB 5 introduces young viewers to Anand, a 10-year-old boy who discovers an extraordinary power—he can merge with his four magical toy companions. Each toy brings a distinct personality and strength: Rikki, the mighty rhino; Mayur, the elegant peacock; Mimmi, the lightning-fast deer; and Mitthu, the sharp and witty parrot.

Together, the unlikely team must protect their family-run amusement park and a hidden mystical realm from rising dark forces. At its core, FAB 5 explores themes of teamwork, responsibility, and courage, wrapped in a colourful, high-energy animated format.

Music designed to hook young audiences

Both shows feature vibrant, high-energy title tracks, crafted to instantly resonate with children and enhance recall. The music-led approach reflects KidZ’s intent to make its originals not just watchable, but memorable—creating characters and worlds kids want to return to.

Leadership vision behind the launch

Commenting on the milestone, Chandan Khandelwal, Business Head – Kids Division, ZEE5 India & Global, said the launch was driven by both professional and personal conviction.

“With KidZ, we’re creating a safe, joyful space where children can explore stories rooted in Indian culture—stories that spark imagination, celebrate values, and deliver fun with meaning,” he said. “Through originals like Chote Tara ka Bada Gadar and FAB 5, we’re blending entertainment and edutainment with purpose, offering kids engaging, values-driven narratives that teach without preaching.”

Khandelwal added that the goal is to delight children while giving parents confidence. “As a parent, this is deeply personal. I’m building something I’d be proud to enjoy with my own child.”
