On Saturday evening, September 13, 2025, the I Love Sai Temple in Carpentersville, Illinois, welcomed two distinguished guests—Village President John Skillman and Village Trustee Sam Gupta. From 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm, the temple became a gathering place of unity and celebration, highlighting its role as both a spiritual sanctuary and a center of community service.

The temple, established in 2018 under the guidance of Shirdi Sai Baba’s teachings, has grown into a vital part of Carpentersville. Despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and administrative hurdles, the temple officially opened nearly three years ago, offering not only a place of worship but also a hub for charity, cultural connection, and fellowship.

During the event, heartfelt speeches reflected on the temple’s journey and its bond with the local community. Director Vijaya Bhattaram shared how Carpentersville quickly became a welcoming home, likening it to a picturesque European village surrounded by the serene Fox River.

President John Skillman commended the temple for its service, including providing over 100,000 meals to local residents. He emphasized the importance of collaboration during difficult times, encouraging everyone to “step up and take care of people.” His words reflected the temple’s mission of selfless service and community care.

Trustee Sam Gupta, long recognized as a strong supporter of the temple, was also honored. His efforts, such as helping secure a property tax exemption, enabled the temple to redirect savings into community programs. Additionally, his connections with the Rotary Club have expanded the temple’s outreach, creating new opportunities for charitable collaboration.

The temple stands as a living embodiment of Shirdi Sai Baba’s principles—love, service, and unity. It organizes regular spiritual gatherings, food drives, and cultural events, bringing together people of diverse backgrounds. Its presence has also inspired other institutions to grow in Carpentersville, further strengthening the community.

The evening closed with laughter, group photos, and the unifying chant of “Om Sai Ram”, echoing the temple’s joyful spirit. Attendees left with a sense of gratitude and renewed purpose, reminded that the temple is more than a place of worship—it is a guiding light of compassion and resilience.

With leaders like John Skillman and Sam Gupta standing alongside the temple’s dedicated volunteers, the I Love Sai Temple continues to shine as a beacon of hope, unity, and service for Carpentersville and beyond.
