Veteran director Priyadarshan has confirmed that his 100th film will feature Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. He emphasized that he cannot envision this landmark project with anyone else, adding that much of what he has achieved in his career is owed to their long association and mutual trust.
In a recent interview, Priyadarshan reflected on their relationship, saying that although they grew up as childhood friends, Mohanlal’s rise as a major star bolstered his own journey in cinema. He said, “If he had not become a superstar, I would not be where I am today. He encouraged me, supported me, and believed in my work.”
The duo’s first collaboration was the 1984 film Poochakkoru Mookkuthi, and over the years they built a reputation for creating hit films together. Priyadarshan believes that launching and concluding his century of films with Mohanlal could become a unique record in Indian cinema.
While he hasn’t locked in specific plans or scripts yet, he’s clear about one thing: his 100th film must be with Mohanlal. The director says that such a feat has never occurred before—beginning and ending such a milestone with the same actor—and he hopes it becomes a benchmark no one else can surpass.
