ZEE5 Global, one of the world’s leading platforms for South Asian entertainment, has announced the digital premiere of the Malayalam mystery-comedy-thriller Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, set to stream worldwide from December 19, 2025.
Marking a significant milestone, the film is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, who makes his Malayalam directorial debut with this project. Produced by Mammootty Kampany, the film features legendary actor Mammootty in a compelling and unconventional role.
The story revolves around Dominic, a retired police officer who has transitioned into life as a private investigator. What begins as a seemingly simple task—locating the owner of a lost ladies’ purse—quickly spirals into a complex and dangerous investigation. Alongside his trusted assistant Vignesh, played by Gokul Suresh, Dominic finds himself navigating a maze of hidden truths, shifting identities, and surprising twists.
Blending humour with suspense and emotional depth, the film offers a refreshing perspective on the detective genre within the framework of contemporary Malayalam cinema. The ensemble cast includes Gokul Suresh, Sushmitha Bhat, Viji Venkatesh, Siddique, Vineeth, and Vijay Babu, all of whom contribute to the layered and intriguing narrative.
Sharing his thoughts on the film, director Gautham Vasudev Menon said the project holds special meaning as his first Malayalam venture. He described the protagonist as a grounded and relatable character rather than a larger-than-life hero. Menon also revealed that the film was completed in just 45 days, crediting the dedication and passion of the entire cast and crew. He expressed excitement about the film’s release on ZEE5 Global, noting that the platform will help the story reach a wider audience.
With Mammootty anchoring the film and Menon’s trademark storytelling style driving the narrative, Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse promises an engaging viewing experience filled with clever investigations, sharp humour, and unexpected turns.
