The period horror-thriller Kaantha, starring Dulquer Salmaan and scheduled to release on September 12, has been pushed back. The delay is a strategic choice to allow Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, also produced by Dulquer, to continue its successful theatrical run without facing internal competition.
In a public statement, the filmmakers expressed gratitude toward fans for their overwhelming support since the teaser’s launch. They noted that the enthusiastic response motivated them to “give our very best” and that they want Lokah’s momentum to continue “soaring” before introducing Kaantha. A new release date for Kaantha will be announced shortly.
Kaantha is directed by Selvaraj Selvamani and features Dulquer Salmaan, Samuthirakani, and Bhagyashri in lead roles. The film is set in the 1950s Madras era and promises a blend of period drama, suspense, and emotional tension—especially in the story of a father-son relationship at its core. Music is composed by Jhanu Chanthar, and production is handled by Spirit Media in collaboration with Wayfarer Films.
