Billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani has taken ownership of a building located at 11 Hubert Street in the Tribeca neighbourhood of New York City. The acquisition was executed through RIL USA, the United States arm of his conglomerate, and the property changed hands for about $17.4 million.
Interestingly, the building had remained unoccupied for a decade. Its former owner, tech entrepreneur Robert Pera — founder and CEO of Ubiquiti — purchased the site in 2018 for around $20 million. Although Pera had commissioned architect Eric Cobb to transform the structure into a 17,000-square-foot luxury mansion, those plans were never realised.
Previously, in August 2023, Ambani sold his Manhattan West Village condominium— a two-bedroom residence overlooking the Hudson River — for roughly $9 million. This new New York investment continues his real estate footprint in the United States.
The Tribeca building was described on the listing as a “rare opportunity for an end-user to develop a single-family mansion in an A+ location in the heart of TriBeCa,” highlighting ambitious previous schemes including, at one point, a 20,000-square-foot mega-mansion with an indoor half-Olympic swimming pool and outdoor space nearing 5,000 square feet.
