Baiju Bhatt, co-founder of the trading platform Robinhood, has been named among the ten youngest billionaires in the United States by a prominent financial publication’s 2025 rankings. Now 40, he is the only person of Indian origin in that group.
His wealth is estimated at about US$6 billion, largely driven by his approximately 6% ownership stake in Robinhood. Under his leadership (and with his co-founder), Robinhood has gained traction by offering commission-free trading, expanding into retirement and savings products, and seeing strong growth in revenues—particularly through crypto transactions and new financial services.
Bhatt grew up in Virginia. He is the son of Gujarati immigrants who moved to the U.S., and his early life was marked by financial hardships—his father had serious health issues that strained the family. Bhatt studied physics and mathematics at Stanford University, where he met his Robinhood co-founder.
Although he stepped down from his role as co-CEO a few years back and later from his executive position, Bhatt remains on Robinhood’s board, continuing to benefit from his equity. His story is often cited as an example of how someone from modest beginnings can build significant impact—and wealth—through innovation in fintech.
