India Weekend at Lincoln Center Postponed Amid U.S.–India Trade Tensions

The much-anticipated India Weekend, organized by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), has been postponed just days before its scheduled September debut at Lincoln Center in New York. Organizers cited “unforeseen circumstances” and confirmed that ticket holders will receive full refunds.

The postponement coincides with mounting trade tensions between the U.S. and India. Recently, the U.S. imposed steep tariffs—up to 50%—on Indian goods, escalating diplomatic friction and prompting concern among cultural institutions planning international events.

Nita Ambani emphasized that this is only a temporary delay, not a cancellation. She affirmed that the celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage in New York will be rescheduled, with renewed purpose and enthusiasm. While no new dates have been announced, the commitment to bring this global showcase to life remains unwavering.

The festival had promised a spectacular lineup: the U.S. premiere of The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation, curated performances, culinary experiences by Chef Vikas Khanna, dance workshops, and appearances by notable cultural figures. Its postponement reflects the complexities of staging cross-border cultural events during volatile geopolitical times.
