Ranveer Singh’s latest release, Dhurandhar, has delivered a massive start at the box office, marking the actor’s biggest opening day to date. Although the film couldn’t beat the record set by Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, it comfortably outran several major 2025 blockbusters.
A Roller-Coaster Journey to Release
Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has had a dramatic build-up right from the teaser launch. The first promo generated heavy excitement, and the trailer further heightened the buzz by breaking engagement records. Advance bookings started strongly before slowing down mid-week, but regained momentum a day before release.
The release day followed the same unpredictable path. The film opened to a slow morning, but positive word of mouth quickly turned things around, helping the movie deliver a powerful day-end total.
Dhurandhar Box Office Day 1 Report
Released across 5000 screens in India on Friday, 5 December, the film faced a challenge due to relatively modest advance sales of just above ₹9 crore. Morning shows recorded an occupancy of under 16%, sparking concerns.
However, early reviews and audience reactions worked in the film’s favor. Afternoon occupancy jumped to 28%, and numbers continued rising till evening, pushing the movie into strong territory.
According to Sacnilk, Dhurandhar collected ₹27 crore (net) on its opening day—significantly higher than the earlier trade predictions of ₹15–18 crore.
Ranveer Singh’s Biggest Opener Ever
The film has now become Ranveer Singh’s highest day-one grosser, surpassing:
- 83 – ₹12.64 crore
- Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani – ₹11.10 crore
- Simmba – ₹20.72 crore
- Saiyaara (2025 hit) – ₹21.50 crore
- Sikandar – ₹26 crore
However, it fell short of Chhaava, which opened at ₹31 crore.
