Nanuet, NY – More than 100 music enthusiasts gathered on December 23rd for an unforgettable afternoon of Hindustani classical music at the Nanuet Library, where a spellbinding Sitar Vadan concert took center stage. The event featured the internationally celebrated maestro Padmashree Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, whose extraordinary artistry left the audience in awe.
The program began with gracious welcome remarks emphasizing the importance of Indian classical music in safeguarding cultural heritage. The concert was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Arts from India and Bharatiya Kala Kendra, Inc., a nonprofit devoted to fostering Indian culture across the United States.

Event coordinator Ajayveer Singh expressed his gratitude to Mr. Nitin Vyas, Global Public Relations Director of World Vegan Vision and Director of INT of USA, as well as Sonalee Vyas of Jani Dance Company, acknowledging their vital support in facilitating such a prestigious performance. Singh also highlighted the ongoing initiatives of Arts from India, which continues to present classical concerts, dance productions, workshops, and virtual events—even throughout the pandemic.
Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, a distinguished exponent of the Etawah Gharana, is revered for his disciplined riyaz and signature gayaki-ang style, both of which were on full display during his performance. He was accompanied by Ustad Kadar Khan, founder of the Kalvant Center New York, whose expert rhythmic accompaniment added depth and vibrancy to the concert.
