A powerful explosion took place in a Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort Metro Station’s Gate No. 1 in Delhi on the evening of November 10, 2025, resulting in a tragic loss of at least eight lives and injuring 24 others. The blast caused significant damage to nearby vehicles and shattered windows in the crowded area, triggering panic and a quick, large-scale emergency response. Seven fire tenders were dispatched immediately, and teams from Delhi Police Special Cell, National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and forensic experts arrived swiftly to investigate the cause. Authorities have cordoned off the area and placed multiple states including Delhi and neighboring regions on high alert.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah briefed that the explosion happened around 7 pm at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort. Within ten minutes of the blast, law enforcement teams reached the scene to begin their investigation. PM Narendra Modi has taken stock of the situation and expressed condolences while assuring assistance to victims. Shah visited the hospital where the injured were admitted and remains in constant communication with intelligence officials as probes continue.

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha confirmed the blast occurred when the slow-moving Hyundai i20 stopped at a traffic light, with the explosion damaging several nearby vehicles. So far, investigations remain inconclusive, and all possibilities, including terror links, are being explored. The high-intensity explosion and ensuing fires disrupted traffic and business, with Chandni Chowk market closing in the aftermath amid widespread security measures.

Authorities are urging residents to remain calm and rely only on official updates as the probe unfolds. Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assured that every possible help is being extended to those affected and requested public cooperation to avoid misinformation circulating on social media.
