Kamala Harris has signalled that her political journey is far from over, stating in a recent interview that she remains committed to public service and might consider another run for the presidency. She told the interviewer that her life of service “is in her bones,” underscoring her determination to stay active in the political arena.
Although she has not announced any specific campaign, Harris said she believes America will elect a woman president in her grand-nieces’ lifetimes—and when asked if she could be that person, she responded, “Possibly.” She added that polls—which currently show her trailing other potential contenders—won’t dictate her path, citing her past electoral defiance of expectations.
During the interview she also revisited her criticism of former President Donald Trump, accusing him of authoritarian tendencies. She asserted that her warnings about his behaviour had been borne out, as she pointed to his alleged use of federal agencies to target critics. Meanwhile, the White House responded with sharp rebuke, framing her remarks as politically motivated.
While Harris declined to run for the 2026 California gubernatorial race, her comments have sparked speculation about a 2028 presidential bid and raised questions about her position within the Democratic Party. Analysts say her declaration signals that she intends to remain a prominent figure, even as she gauges her next move.
