In his 2025 annual letter to shareholders, colleagues, and customers, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reflects on the company’s 50th anniversary, emphasizing its pivotal role in the ongoing AI platform shift. Nadella notes, “Fifty years after our founding, Microsoft is once again at the heart of a generational moment in technology.”
Microsoft reported record-breaking results for fiscal year 2025, with $281.7 billion in revenue—a 15% increase—and $128.5 billion in operating income, up 17%. Azure surpassed $75 billion in revenue for the first time, growing 34%, solidifying Microsoft’s dominance in the cloud sector.
The company expanded its AI infrastructure globally, operating over 400 data centers across 70 regions. Notably, Microsoft introduced Fairwater, the world’s most powerful AI data center, located in southeastern Wisconsin, delivering 10 times the performance of today’s fastest supercomputer.
Microsoft’s Copilot family surpassed 100 million monthly active users, with more than 230,000 organizations using Copilot Studio. The company also introduced its first in-house models, MAI-Voice-1 and MAI-1, while Azure AI Foundry now provides access to over 11,000 models from partners including OpenAI and Cohere.
Nadella concludes by reiterating Microsoft’s commitment to its long-term vision, stating, “think in decades but execute in quarters,” underscoring the company’s strategic approach to innovation and growth.
