A new AARP Gotham Polling & Analytics survey reveals that Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic candidate for New York City mayor, maintains a commanding lead in the race. The poll, conducted among 1,376 likely voters, shows Mamdani with 43.2% support, well ahead of his nearest competitors.
Independent candidate Andrew Cuomo trails with 28.9%, while Republican Curtis Sliwa holds 19.4%. The remaining 8.5% of respondents are undecided. The poll’s margin of error is ±2.6 percentage points.
The survey also suggests that if Sliwa were to drop out, Mamdani’s lead would narrow, with Cuomo gaining additional support. This scenario underscores the strategic importance of third-party candidates in the city’s electoral dynamics.
As the election approaches, early voting is set to begin shortly, and the next mayoral debate is scheduled for Wednesday evening. Candidates are intensifying their campaigns to sway undecided voters and solidify their positions ahead of the November 4 election day.
