At the NDTV World Summit 2025, Harvard Business School professor Tarun Khanna urged Indian students aspiring to study abroad to explore a wider range of international education options instead of focusing solely on U.S. universities.
Khanna noted that the global higher education landscape is undergoing major changes, with institutions worldwide facing new economic and geopolitical challenges. He encouraged students to also consider opportunities in India, Canada, and the United Kingdom, which are emerging as strong education destinations.
Highlighting India’s long-term growth, Khanna emphasized the need for greater investment in science, technology, and research, saying that no country has advanced beyond middle-income status without strengthening its scientific foundation. He also underlined the importance of nurturing local talent and innovation to reduce dependence on external expertise.
Addressing broader global concerns, Khanna warned about the twin challenges of rising inequality and climate change, stressing that both issues require urgent scientific and policy action. He noted that the world has already crossed several critical environmental thresholds, making it essential for nations to act decisively.
