At the heart of the dispute lies disagreement over the continuation of Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance tax credits. Democrats insist that these subsidies must be extended as part of any funding bill, while Republicans argue that broader budget issues must be resolved first.
Despite the public backlash, favorability ratings for both parties remain largely unchanged. Confidence in Congress and federal leadership continues to lag, with few Americans expressing optimism about quick resolution.
