A delegation of Indian parliamentarians recently convened with the Indian-American community at the Indian Consulate in New York, engaging about 90 diaspora members from sectors such as business, academia, technology, and community organizations.
Led by MP P.P. Chaudhary and comprising representatives across party lines, the delegation emphasized the diaspora’s significant contributions to India’s growth and its role in advancing the India–United States partnership. They also invited the community to support India’s developmental vision through 2047.
During the meeting, several attendees raised challenges they face abroad, such as issues related to property transactions in India. Vivek Tankha, a congress MP and delegation member, described the dialogue as a valuable platform to engage a vital segment of the Indian global community.
The event also saw participation from U.S. politicians of Indian origin, including New Jersey State Senators Raj Mukherji and Vin Gopal, who echoed the importance of diaspora engagement. The interaction was part of a broader U.S. outreach effort by the Indian parliamentary delegation, aimed at reinforcing ties at both the governmental and community levels.
