In a significant leadership reshuffle, Shubman Gill has been appointed as India’s new One Day International (ODI) captain for the upcoming series against Australia. This move marks a transition in India’s leadership, with Gill taking over from Rohit Sharma, who has stepped down from the role.
Shreyas Iyer has been named vice-captain, bringing his experience to the leadership group. The squad also sees the return of seasoned players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have retired from Test and T20 formats but remain active in ODIs.
Notably, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami have been excluded from the ODI squad, signaling a potential end to their roles in the format.
The ODI series is scheduled to commence on October 19 in Perth, followed by a five-match T20 series.
