Ahmedabad, October 2, 2025 — Jasprit Bumrah achieved a major milestone on Day 1 of the first Test match between India and the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The Indian pacer took three wickets, including two with his signature yorkers, helping India bowl out the West Indies for just 162 runs. This performance made Bumrah the fastest Indian bowler to reach 50 Test wickets on home soil, achieving the feat in only 1,747 deliveries.
Bumrah’s figures of 14-3-42-3 were complemented by Mohammed Siraj’s 4/40, giving India a dominant start. At stumps, India was 121/2 in reply, trailing by 41 runs. KL Rahul was unbeaten on 53, while Shubman Gill had 18 runs.
