BCCI to Protest Against Mohsin Naqvi’s Trophy Incident at ICC Meeting

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced its intention to file a formal protest with the International Cricket Council (ICC) following an incident during the Asia Cup 2025 final. After India defeated Pakistan by five wickets to clinch their ninth Asia Cup title, the Indian team declined to accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi, citing his partisan role throughout the tournament. In response, Naqvi walked off with the trophy and medals, leading to a delay in the post-match presentation ceremony.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia criticized Naqvi’s actions as “unexpected” and “very childish,” emphasizing that such behavior was inappropriate for an official representing the ACC. He further stated that the Indian team’s decision not to accept the trophy was in line with the country’s policy of not engaging with officials perceived as hostile.

The BCCI has confirmed that it will raise this issue at the upcoming ICC meeting scheduled for the first week of November in Dubai. The board has also demanded that the Asia Cup trophy be sent to India to uphold the integrity of the tournament and ensure that the Indian team’s victory is properly acknowledged.
