Malayalam cinema heavyweight Mammootty is back in action after stepping away from work for roughly eight months. He is scheduled to rejoin the cast of Patriot in early October, with filming set to resume at Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad. The project also features Mohanlal and Fahadh Faasil among its star ensemble.
The delay had been prompted by health concerns, during which Mammootty stayed in Chennai for medical care. Owing to the prolonged stay in the city and his ongoing treatment, Chennai is now expected to become his new operational base—possibly even permanently.
Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, Patriot had already completed an estimated 60 percent of its shoot before the break. The production team chose the Hyderabad schedule to allow controlled shooting conditions and reduce the logistical challenges typically associated with big star shoots.
Producers and insiders now anticipate adjustments to the film’s release timeline. Mammootty’s return marks a welcome development for fans and industry watchers alike, reviving anticipation for a collaboration among some of Malayalam cinema’s most celebrated actors.
