Indian actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has achieved a major milestone, securing his first nomination at the 2025 International Emmy Awards. He has been shortlisted in the Best Performance by an Actor category for his portrayal in Amar Singh Chamkila. Meanwhile, the same series has also been nominated in the TV Movie / Mini-Series category, marking a rare double honor for Indian content on the world stage.
The nominations were revealed by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, as part of the 53rd edition of the awards. Amar Singh Chamkila explores the life and career of the late Punjabi folk legend, and its dual nods spotlight both Dosanjh’s performance and the show’s broader creative impact.
Responding to the recognition, Dosanjh credited director Imtiaz Ali for the opportunity, expressing gratitude and attributing much of the success to Ali’s vision. Amar Singh Chamkila, released on Netflix in 2024, has drawn acclaim for its compelling storytelling, performances, and musical authenticity.
This year’s Emmy nominations are particularly historic: there are 64 nominees across 16 categories, representing a record 26 countries. The global breadth underscores the rising influence of international television and streaming content.
For Indian creators and performers, the dual nominations for Dosanjh and Amar Singh Chamkila symbolize a growing acknowledgment of Indian storytelling talent on a global scale.
