At just ten years old, Rachel Jasmina Dias, a Goan girl residing in Dubai, is making a significant impact through her initiatives focused on education and community support. As a Year 6 student at a British curriculum school, Rachel founded The Rachel Foundation in May 2023, aiming to improve literacy among underprivileged children.
The foundation’s flagship project, “Books for All,” has donated over 6,000 books to children in countries including Mauritius, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Goa. In collaboration with the Diocesan Society of Education in Goa, the foundation has established libraries in church-run schools, providing students with access to essential learning resources.
In addition to her work with books, Rachel crafts and sells bracelets to fund the education of girls from underprivileged families in India and to support individuals with special needs in Dubai. Each bracelet sold contributes to these causes, demonstrating Rachel’s commitment to social change.
Rachel credits her family for their unwavering support. Her twin brother, Troy, is her closest companion, and her mother, Remediana (Remy) Dias, a former teacher, manages the foundation’s operations. Remy emphasizes the importance of balancing technology use at home, encouraging reading as a fundamental aspect of childhood development.
Through her foundation and creative endeavors, Rachel Jasmina Dias exemplifies how young individuals can drive positive change in the world.
